About the Author

William M. Dowd  labored in the vineyards of journalism in New York, Pennsylvania and Maryland for more than 40 years as editor and writer.

Eventually, good sense overtook him and he retired to the hills of Rensselaer County, NY, overlooking the Hudson River, the state capital in Albany and a vast expanse of land that was home to the Erie Canal and the American Industrial Revolution.

These days, he contents himself with writing and photography on the topics of food, drink and destinations — and the opinions and observations posted on this site. He writes regularly for a number of websites, and “Barrels & Drams: The History of Whisk(e)y In Jiggers and Shots,” an anthology he edited and co-wrote for, has been published by Sterling Epicure of New York.
